After the death of her mother, Mary was taken to be raised by her paternal aunt, Mary Anne Primrose Noble.

Story

Mary (Min or Minnie) Ellis Primrose (11 October 1863-7 July 1949) married Thomas Wiley Winston (25 February 1861-16 July 1934) on December 18, 1886. Mary's mother died when she was a teenager and she was reared by her aunt, Mary Anne (or Ann) Primrose Noble (1826-1916) who married Albert Morris Noble (1823-1903). Mary and Thomas were the parents of three daughters. The researcher could find the name of only one of their children, Julia Primrose Winston (27 July 1888-6 December 1962), who married Marion C. Taylor (11 June 1886-18 July 1950). Mary, her husband Thomas, and her daughter Julia and her husband Marion are buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Oxford, Granville County, NC.
