Ransom Sanders

Ransom Sanders was married first to Jemima Jones and they had a daughter Polly Ann Sanders (1825-1847). Jemima died in 1834 and in 1835 Ransom married Sarah Campbell. Among their children were Bettie and Laura who attended the Burwell School.

Story

Ransom Sanders, a planter and descendant of early 18th century settlers in what became Johnston County, and his second wife, Sarah Campbell had two daughters: Sarah Elizabeth Sanders  and Lauretta Winifred Sanders , both Burwell School students. Ransom Sanders was the son of Reuben Sanders, and the grandson of Hardy Sanders. Sarah Campbell was the daughter of James Campbell.

According to a comment posted to Ransom Sander's entry on Find A Grave,  "Ransom had built quite an estate which passed to his second wife Sarah [Campbell Sanders, later Miller]...The records of many of the transactions of slaves and farm matters carried on by Sarah...may be viewed, online, at the Johnston County Heritage Center website."
