Sarah Slocumb Grady was the mother of Farquhard Campbell Smith who married Burwell Student Sarah Elizabeth Sanders.

Story

Farquhard C. Smith was a wealthy planter before the Civil War and large landowner in Cumberland County where his ancestors were among the earliest settlers on the Upper Cape Fear River. Farquhard C. Smith, [Sr.] inherited from his father, Lebanon Plantation where the Civil War battle of Averasboro took place. The house is now a historic site because of its Civil War use as a military hospital.

He married Sarah Slocumb Grady and had a child, Farquhard [II] Campbell Smith. Farquhard [II] Campbell Smith married Burwell student Sarah Elizabeth Sanders .
