Elizabeth Holmes

At a Glance

According to Mary Claire Engstrom's book The Book of Burwell Students, Elizabeth was the daughter of Gabriel Holmes Jr. ((1767 or 1769-1829) Governor of North Carolina from 1821-1824. However, to date we have been unable to verify this fact. She and physician Dr. Thomas Bunting were the parents of four children Mary Louisa (1838-1928), Mildred  "Minnie"  1843- ), Thomas Owen (1845-1913), and Elizabeth. The latter 3 are buried in Springvale Cemetery (aka Clinton City Cemetery).

Elizabeth Holmes was born ca 1820. She died on November 1, 1846, and was buried in Clinton City Cemetery.

• Spouse: Thomas Bunting (1801-1871). They had two daughters, Sally Bunting  [1] and Mary Louisa Bunting (1838-1928) .
• Other children: one daughter (Mary Louisa Bunting [1] (1838-1928) ).
• Others: Elizabeth Hill (granddaughter), John H. Hill, [Jr.] (grandson), Louisa Hill (granddaughter), Mary Hill (granddaughter), Minnie Hill (granddaughter) and Thomas Hill (grandson).
