Rev. Samuel H. Smith was son Of James Smith (1758-1823) and Amy Ann Pomfret (1759-1834). James Smith was the eldest son of Col. Samuel Smith, Jr. and Mary Ann Edmondson Webb (1740-1827) who moved from Cock’s Quarter Farm, Virginia, to Abrams Plains, Granville County, NC in 1766. They converted from Anglican to Presbyterian. Col. Samuel Smith, Jr. was son of Samuel Smith (1694-1737) and Ann Amis (1705-1753) of Three Springs, Saluda, Virginia.
