Grizelda Dickens was granddaughter of Revolutionary War hero Stephen Moore and Griselda Levi Phillips. Paid in stamps for courageously skating down the Hudson River accompanied by Iroquois warriors to deliver significant military information to New York City, Moore used the money to purchase Mt. Tirzah, Person County NC. Moore’s daughter Frances “Fannie” Moore (1773-1819) was born at West Point NY; she married Jesse Dickens (1765-1838). The Moore family sold the West Point location to the government for the military academy.
