Story

Jed Harper Lindsay was an active, substantial, and prominent citizen of Greensboro in the 19th century, according to the following reference from James Albright's Greensboro, 1808-1904: In 1829 his real estate was valued at $3,500; in 1839-1841 he served as a member of the Town Board; in 1840-1841 he was listed as owning a saw mill about where the Southern Railway crosses Lindsay Street; in 1856 he was a member of a committee to purchase a lot and erect a new courthouse; and in 1876 he was listed as a member of the first board of directors of the newly organzied National Bank of Greensboro [1].
