John Cheshire Badham

John C. Badham married Maria Waddell on January 4, 1853 in New Hanover, NC. They were married by the Rev. Robert Brent Drane, rector of St. James Episcopal Church. He was an attorney by trade, and served in the NC House of Representatives and NC Senate. He was also a Lt. Col with the CSA. He was killed in the battle of Williamburg, VA in May, 1861.

Story

John was a student at Pennsylvania College, Gettysburg PA 1846-1849. After graduation, he studied law at Ballston Spa, NY. He returned to his home town, Edenton, to practice law and enter politics. After the untimely death of his wife, he did not remarry.
