William Lord DeRosset is the husband of Elizabeth Simpson Nash. Elizabeth is the granddaughter of Frederick Nash and a Burwell Student.

Story

Eldest son of Dr.Armand J. and Eliza Jane DeRosset, who married in 1829. William was one of 11 children (7 boys, 4 girls), attended UNC, 1849-1851, apprenticed at a machine shop in Lawrence, Mass., returned to Wilmington and helped establish the Clarenden Iron Works, joined the mercantile firm of DeRossett and Brown in 1860. It had been founded by his father and John Potts Brown. William enlisted in the Confederate army and was wounded but continued to serve until 1863 when he returned to his family business and public service in Wilmington. In 1871 his shipping, mercantile, and insurance business was located at 5 North Water Street in Wilmington [1] [2] [3] [4] [5].
