Married Alice Petty in 1903. Alice was born in 1880 and died in 1971.

Horace and Alice had three children:

• Marjorie Bumpass Rankin, b. 2 Mar 1906, d 1985

• Thomas Scott Bumpass, b. 14 May 1908, d 1979. Thomas married Ruth A. Young. In the 1920 census, Thomas was 11 years old and living in Farmersville, Collin, Texas. He is buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.

• Horace Maynard Bumpass, b in Texas 3 July 1915, d 2002

In 1930, Horace (the child of Virginia and Thomas) was manager of a cotton gin in Nowata, OK.
