His son, Robert C., married a woman named Laura F., who was born about 1897. They had three children – Clawson (b. about 1914), Jane Lee (b. about 1916) and Johnson R. (b. about 1918).
He died in the Soldiers Home and Hospital on Newburn Ave. in Raleigh, NC on Feb. 8, 1933 and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Cary, Wake County, NC (U.S. Find a Grave Index, 1600s-Current)
