Story

The second husband of Mary Amelia Faison, Dr. Marable was Pastor of Beulah Church near Turkey NC, where he met Franklin Julian Faison, who introduced him to his widowed sister, Mary Amelia Faison McDugald. They married 16 December, 1858 and had ?children: Louisa (called SuLu (1859) and Susan (1860).

He attended school in the following places:

1855-graduated bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest College

1885-M.A. degree from Wake Forest College

1885-Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree Davidson College

According to the North Carolina Confederate Officers Roster, in 1862, Benjamin is listed as chaplain with the rank of Captain serving under General William E. Mann and Brig. Gen. Robert A. Moseley in the 6th Brigade, North Carolina Militia, Clinton, N.C.

There are numerous online family trees for Benjamin Franklin Marable however, they do not agree on the number of children he had with Mary Amelia. The 1860 Census shows Benjamin Marable, clergyman, Amelia Marable and Louisa Marable (7 months old).

However, the 1870 Census shows Benjamin Franklin Marable, clergyman, wife Octavia Marable, and daughters Susan age 10 and Mary age 8. Mary Amelia Marable died in 1861 so while it is likely Susan’s mother was Mary Amelia, Mary’s mother probably was Octavia Marable.
