Story

Henrietta Webb of Stony Point was the eldest daughter of Alexander Smith Webb and Cornelia Adeline Stanford, daughter of the Hon. Richard Stanford.

Alexander Smith Webb moved the family from Harmony Hill in 1845 to a rocky plantation called Stony Point approximately a quarter mile south of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.

Henrietta's nine living brothers and sisters were: Susan A. Webb , Mary Caroline Webb , Adeline Webb, James Stanford Webb, Tip Webb, Rev. Richard Stanford Webb, Samuel H. Webb, Sen. William Robert Webb, and John Maurice Webb.

Henrietta likely enrolled at the Burwell School in the late 1840s. Apparently, Henrietta was a mentally disturbed person, but whether her troubled behavior appeared during her Burwell School years is unknown; no record mentions it. Laurence McMillin's book, The Schoolmaker: Sawney Webb and the Bell Buckle Story, mentioned:

"William Robert Webb's disturbed, gaunt, eldest sister Henrietta had been in and out of the asylum at Raleigh."

Henrietta died on February 15, 1862, at the age of thirty-two. She is buried beside her mother, Cornelia Adeline Stanford, and two sisters, Susan A. Webb  and Mary Caroline Webb  in Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery [1] [2].
