Jane Ellen Stevens of Clinton was one of the very early students at the Burwell School [1].

Story

Jane Ellen Stevens was the daughter of Charles Stevens of Clinton, and his second wife, Catherine Henry, who married in 1821. Jane's paternal grandparents were James Henry Stevens and Mary Murphy of Kerr.

Jane Ellen Stevens married James Kerr of Kerr on June 5, 1845, three months before her father's death. The couple built their home in Kerr and it still stands today. Jane died on April 7, 1909 and is buried at her Kerr home [1].
