Story

Margaret Johnson of Orange County appears on a roster of Burwell students, but little is known of her. An obituary notice appeared in the The Hillsborough Recorder [1] on September 15, 1858 and recorded the death of Margaret J. Johnston of Alamance County at the Concord Female College in Statesville, NC, USA on September 4, 1858. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the only daughter of her widowed mother [2].
