At a Glance

Anne Elizabeth Garrett, known as Bettie, and her sister Mary L. Garrett  were the daughters of Dr. Richard Garrett and Mary Lea Garrett of Chatham County. After Bettie and Mary's mother died at a young age, the two girls went to live with their maternal grandfather Woodson Lea of Chatham County [1].

Story

Bettie Garrett and her sister both attended the Burwell School in 1855 and 1856 as music scholars and Mrs. Burwell (Margaret Anna Robertson) wrote of them returning to school in January of 1856. No more is known, however, about Bettie Garrett [1].
