Elizabeth Howard Lunsford was the mother of Jesse Anderson Lunsford, who was the father of Burwell School students Elizabeth Frances and Virginia Elmira. She was the first wife of Joseph Lunsford.

According to her gravestone, she was born 1 Apr 1791 and died 7 Jun 1834. She is buried in the Joseph Lunsford Cemetery in Person County, NC, and her gravestone includes the following inscription:

“Leaving four Children

Jesse Anderson

Rebecca Jones

Allen Howard

And

Mary Ann”
