Story

In 1836 Catherine Roane Ruffin married Joseph Blount Gregoire Roulhac, Sr. (1795-1856). In 1837 they moved to Windsor, Bertie County, NC. Many letters she wrote to her father are in the Thomas Ruffin Papers, Southern Historical Collection, UNC. She is the mother of William Sterling Roulhac (1851 - 1884) who married Susan Mary Ruffin’s daughter Nannie Brodnax.

Catherine and Joseph's other children are Annie Roulhac (1837), Frances Gray “Fannie” Roulhac (1839-1897), Joseph Blount Gregoire Roulhac, Jr. (1842-1861), Elizabeth Ruffin Roulhac (1843-1865), Thomas Ruffin Roulhac (1846-1894), and John Blount Gregoire Roulhac (1849-1883) Today the Ruffin-Roulhac House is the Town Hall for the Town of Hillsborough.
