This student appears in the roster of authenticated Burwell School student compiled by Mary Claire Engstrom and published in The Book of Burwell Students [1].

Story

In her diary on March 2,1855, Anna Burwell noted that a girl named Phi Williams arrived unexpectedly at the school with Sally Faucette, who was from Alamance County. By the end of the month, Phi was quite ill and Anna had to send for the doctor. In August, Anna mentioned that Phi had returned, but she does not say why. Because Anna Burwell refers to this student as Phi and never mentions her full name, it has been impossible to discover further information regarding this student.(1)
